
you are interviewing for a position in the lab. You are going to work on a project, be busy, and write a report about what you did. You are going to present this report to the lab and tell us what you did. If you do a good job you will be offered a position in the lab. Students finish their projects in five years. The main paper you write should initiate one other paper which will be worked on as a group. For the first 3 years you will not decide how the project is undertaken. Your input will be considered, but the PI will decide how you should carry out the experiments. You will be busy, and work hard. Once you have submitted the first paper, you will start to look for a new job. That is how it would work if you joined my lab.
Its not always like that.
