Days after recovering from past a dozen labmeetings. Did I mention taking a day off. Thats always a treat if its once in a while. Boss is gone. A near peer to me gave labmeeting and seems happy as ever to carry her insano research on. Its pragmatic in the respect that it really is publishable, but its sure strange I think. Its publishable because my boss and some of his friends have started finding it interesting and showing it at conferences. Im pretty sure that no lab who doesnt work on it finds it interesting, but when reviewers see the interest crop up from 3 or 4 labs, I think it will go. It might be interesting if she compared cells under different conditions, but she is just characterizing cells in a new way.
So apart from the point of her project being strange, she refuses to troubleshoot with the most sensible endpoints I think. I tried to keep my mouth shut at meeting because my comments are unappreciated. I said it months ago. But there it is again. Some people agree with me. In absentia the boss has commanded minions to start pushing this girl in a new direction. We are being herded. I got an email tonight about how I should do something that either makes no sense, or I already am doing it, depending on how you interpret what bossman writes. If it makes no sense, then coincidentally he told this other guy at work to do the same thing in his system. It made no sense at 5pm and it made even less damn sense at 6pm when the admin girl of all people sent me an email with a note from the boss. Never had a middleman, at least over email, with bossman. Hopefully he is just too bored to address me specifically? I have no idea, but it reeks. Stay tuned.
